How to work with ETYN's Ping Test tool

What is Ping?

Ping is a network administrative utility available on many systems to verify reachability of a host in the IP network. Ping utility uses ICMP protocol to send ICMP echo requests to and receive ICMP replies from a host. Then based on the reply, it determines if a host is alive or not.

What is ETYN's Ping Test tool?

ETYN's Ping Test tool is a free web-based online version of the "ping" utility and can be used for the same purpose.

How does ETYN's Ping tool work?

To use Ping tool:

  1. Enter the hostname or IP address of the computer you want to ping in the input box
  2. Ping test
  3. Click on the button
  4. Wait until the results are displayed in the results section (text area)
  5. Ping test

Please note that if you see "a.b.c.d is unreachable" as the Ping result, it does NOT necessarily mean that the host a.b.c.d is not available; rather, it means that the host is either not available or it is available but a firewall is blocking the ICMP echo request/reply packets.
